A Royal Derby Hospital nurse has been labelled “a credit to the Intensive Care Unit” for the support she’s shown to a patient and his family since being redeployed back “home” to the department during the pandemic. 

Registered Nurse Suzie Parsons was nominated by one of her colleagues to receive a UHBD Making a Difference Award, as a small thank you for helping make their husband’s near 100-day stay in hospital “a little easier”.

UHDB patients already benefiting from brand new mobile MRI scanning unit at QHB

A mobile MRI scanning unit has been set up at Queen’s Hospital Burton to ensure our patients continue to receive the best care possible – while new state-of-the-art scanners are installed across UHDB.

Two brand new MRI scanners will replace the existing ones at Queen’s Hospital Burton and London Road Community Hospital over the coming months, as part of an exciting, staggered £2.5m upgrade within the Trust’s Imaging department.

The first Covid-19 vaccine doses were administered at Royal Derby Hospital and Chesterfield Royal Hospital on December 8, just six days after the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine had been formally approved by the MHRA.

Charge Nurse, Rob Bradley, has won our March 2021 Patient Hero Award for providing exceptional care to a patient with Autism & Sensory Processing Disorder. 

The dedicated nurse who works at Royal Derby Hospital was presented with the UHDB Patient Hero Award earlier last week after being nominated by Derbyshire Mum, Chloe.

Team UHDB’s Katie is named nurse of the year at prestigious British Journal of Nursing Awards

A UHDB nurse has won a prestigious national award for her role in helping to establish our Lymphoedema team as one of the best of its kind in the world. 

The Trust was exceptionally proud to see the service named a ‘Comprehensive Centre of Excellence’ by the Lymphatic Education and Research Network last year – one of only 11 centres in the world to receive this accolade.

The Deceased Patients’ Property Release Service was reintroduced at the Royal Derby Hospital and Queen’s Hospital Burton, on Monday 18 January 2021 to support wards under considerable pressure during the third wave of Covid-19 and prevent the need for families to go to ward areas to collect the belongings of their loved ones.

Construction of a new multi-storey car park at Queen’s Hospital Burton is set to begin imminently.

The project has got the go-ahead following the allocation of £3m of Government funding. The car park is to be constructed on land behind the Treatment Centre building on the main Queen’s Hospital Burton site and is set for completion by next winte

NHS Staff survey results

Staff at UHDB continue to say that the Trust is the place where they would like their families to receive treatment. Each year, the NHS nationally undertakes an anonymous staff survey, with the survey this year being conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite this more than 6,800 staff took part, the highest number since the Trust was created.
