Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening

An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) > is a swelling in the aorta, the artery that carries blood from the heart to the tummy (abdomen).

Most aneurysms do not cause any problems, but they can be serious, with the highest risk group being males over the age of 65.

Screening can help spot a swelling in the aorta early on when it can be treated. The screening consists of a painless, non-invasive ultrasound scan.
