Emergency care at UHDB Trust
We offer three emergency department (A&E) services:
- Queen's Hospital Burton
- Royal Derby Hospital
- Children's emergency department at Royal Derby Hospital
We see approximately 200,000 cases every year and our aim is to provide compassionate care and the best outcome for all.
In May 2015, Royal Derby Hospital’s Emergency Department was named the national winner of the CHKS Excellence in A&E award. Judges said they were “impressed by the Trust’s clear focus on patient experience and their ability to demonstrate compassionate care and good outcomes”.
Other notable facts:
- The Royal Derby Hospital has the region's only rooftop helipad
- The Minor Injuries department at Queen's Hospital Burton went through a £1.1million refurbishment in 2018
- The Children's Emergency Department is part of the Paediatric Emergency Research Network (PERUKI), is a Grid accredited training site and the co-located Paediatric Observation unit has been used by the RCPCH as an example of good practice
