Audiology at Royal Derby Hospital and Florence Nightingale Community Hospital

Our Adult Audiology service provides tests, support and treatment for adults who have problems with their hearing.

Access to this service requires a referral from your GP to the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) department, or another discipline within the hospital who can then directly refer to Adult Audiology.

The department assesses, diagnoses, and manages the complex hearing needs of the adult population in Southern Derbyshire.

Resources for hearing aids and apps

You may have been fitted with a Danalogic or Oticon hearing aid.

Below is information linked to the hearing aids and their corresponding remote control applications which can be downloaded from your play/app store onto your mobile phone.

You can also find instructions on managing and maintaining your hearing aids [pdf] 141KB.

Video consultations

We are now able to offer ‘remote’ online video consultations for select appointments.

Get information on our video consultations >

Video consultation is as convenient as a phone call, with the added value of face-to-face communication. It can save you time and money (by not having to travel to and from appointments) and brings care closer to home.

However, if you require a hearing test, impressions for new moulds or a hearing aid repair/service, then we will arrange a face-to-face appointment.

PVP shunts, pacemakers and ICDs

Please inform us prior to, or at the beginning of your appointment if you have a PVP shunt, pacemaker, or ICD, so that we can safely adapt the appointment and avoid altering their function.
