About the hospital and its services
Ilkeston Community Hospital is a Derbyshire Community Health Services (DCHS) led healthcare facility on Heanor Road, Ilkeston, which offers a range of services for the local and wider community.
Its origins date back to 1884, when two cottages in Station Road, Ilkeston, were converted into a hospital. In 1987, Diana Princess of Wales opened a renovated building that we know today.

Some of the services provided are led or supported by UHDB. These include:
- blood tests (phlebotomy), open Monday to Sunday, 7am - 7pm
- X-ray facilities, open Monday to Sunday, 7am - 7pm
- Ilkeston Theatre Suite, which performs day case surgery (inclusive of two theatres and minor operations room). Specialities include:
- Trauma and Orthopaedics
- Opthalmology
- Dermatology
- Podiatry
- a Community Diagnostics Centre, providing an open MRI, CT scans, point of care testing, and other diagnostic tests
- an Urgent Treatment Centre (open 8am to 8pm, seven days a week)
- approximately 20 UHDB led multi-disciplinary outpatient clinics, including sessions for:
- Audiology and conditions of the ear, nose, and throat (ENT)
- Urology
- Opthalmology
- Gynaecology
- Cardiology
- Trauma and Orthopaedics
There is also a League of Friends Shop and Cafe (open Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm, Saturday to Sunday, 8.30am - 1.30pm) , and hospital restaurant (open Monday to Friday lunch times).
