UHDB porter 'couldn't be happier' with his first job in facilities
Today is Facilities Management (FM) day and here at UHDB we are lucky to have so many incredible facilities staff who work tirelessly to ensure that our patients, colleagues and visitors have the best experience they can while using our hospitals.
To mark FM day (Friday, 13 May) we want to recognise and shine a light on all the amazing work our facilities teams do across our five sites.
Amaad Faisal, is a Porter in Medical Assessment Unit at Royal Derby Hospital. He has been working in the role for the past 11 months and it is his first job.
He said it is something he “fell into” but he couldn’t be happier.
Amaad said: “It is just something I fell into. I knew I wanted an active job, being on the move and speaking to people so I decided to try it out and I’ve loved it so far.”
Amaad said speaking with patients is one his favourite parts of the day and he is thankful that staff and visitors have always treated him well.
He said: “I’m really happy here.
“I love talking to the patients they make my day and my team is lovely.
“It definitely is important to have a day for the facilities staff. I think we all deserve it.
“I want to take this chance to thank everyone that has worked with me. I am always treated with respect and care and I’m very thankful for that.
“I came from an agency but even though I was in different uniform I have always been treated the same.
“It is a great place to work.”
