Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
It is with much sadness that we have learned of the passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second today.
The NHS across the county will remember, with affection and gratitude, the lifetime of service she has given to the people of the United Kingdom and The Commonwealth as our longest-reigning Monarch.
We were honoured to be awarded the George Cross by her Majesty earlier this year. In addition, we recognise the Royal family, who are mourning the loss of a much-loved member.
Stephen Posey, Chief Executive at UHDB, and Dr Kathy McLean OBE, Chair at UHDB, said in a joint statement: “On behalf of everyone at UHDB, we would like to send our condolences to the Royal Family at this time of national mourning. We all stand together in sadness and remembrance.”
Some routine services closed for the state funeral
Monday 19 September will be a public Bank Holiday, which means some of our routine services will be closed so that staff and patients can participate in the lying in state and subsequent funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
If your appointment is affected by this, we will contact you directly to confirm this before Saturday. All affected appointments will be rescheduled as quickly as possible. If we do postpone your appointment and you have already booked patient transport to help you get to hospital, please do not forget to cancel it.
If you do not hear from us, please attend your appointment as per the details included in your NHS letter.
Thank you for your cooperation.
