Trust AHP Director appointed onto NHS Assembly
A leading UHDB Allied Health Professional (AHP) has been selected to appear on a national panel tasked with helping shape the future of the NHS.
The NHS Assembly has been set up to advise, challenge and support the delivery of the NHS Long-Term Plan – which has mapped out the key changes needed to improve the health service over the next 10 years.
Penny Owens, Director of AHPs for UHDB, is one of 56 leading NHS colleagues, charity chiefs and patient champions selected from across the country to be on the panel, with the aim of helping deliver quality care.
The Long-Term-Plan will focus on how the NHS can overcome challenges by doing things differently, tackling health inequalities, making the NHS a better place to work, identifying additional savings, and enhancing the use of digital technology.
Penny said: “It’s hugely humbling to have been chosen to be on the NHS Assembly and I will make sure that the voices of all AHPs and Healthcare Scientists (HCSs) are heard when delivering the 10-year plan. It is extremely important that the group encompasses such a diverse group of people and it can only be a good thing to get this collection of different views together. We celebrated the NHS turning 70 last year but it is crucial that we start to think about how we can do things differently, so that we can provide the quality levels of care that our patients deserve. The Long-Term Plan is a great opportunity for us to put in place the NHS as it should be by looking at the different ways we can make it even better.”
