UHDB showcase maternity services to Midlands team
UHDB has welcomed NHS England’s regional maternity team to two of its sites as part of their Ockenden assurance visits to all maternity services across the region.
The team spent the day at Royal Derby Hospital on 17 August and the following day visited Queen’s Hospital Burton.
The team was led by Janet Driver, Regional Chief Midwife, who said the regional team were pleased to be able to meet a multidisciplinary team during their visit.
Janet said: “It’s not just been the hospital services we’ve met with it’s the community staff as well.
“We have seen a huge range of staff from managers to midwives and healthcare workers and midwifery students.
“It’s been a special time.”
Chantelle Knight, Regional Governance Lead, was also part of the visit. She said she witnessed a lot of support among teams while at the sites.
She said: “We’ve seen a lot of small teams pulling together. They have really supported each other through tough times and continue to work together to look after each other which is good to see.”
Patti Paine, Director of Midwifery and Divisional Lead Nurse, said: “We were delighted to welcome NHS England’s regional maternity team to UHDB.
“The purpose of the visit was to review UHDB’s progress against recommendations made in the interim Ockenden report 2020. The team have met with a wide range of staff groups; obstetricians, midwives, support workers and managers and our teams have engaged positively with our visitors.
“UHDB have fully implemented six out of the seven recommendations from the Interim Ockenden report in 2020 and are finalising the last remaining recommendation currently”.
