"My first job was an IT Systems Trainer".

How did you get to your current role?

I took two secondments which allowed me to learn more about project management.

Yes, I moved from the IT Training into Voluntary services, then over to Operations, and back into IT Projects. All 4 roles where very different.

Every step was a challenge, it’s difficult to move into new roles, there is always a lot to learn, every department works differently.

What do you do now?

I am an IT Project Manager, which entails supporting the role out of new IT systems within the Trust and Community.  You are the middle person, the co-ordinator/communicator between the end user and the external system suppliers, and your main purpose is to ensure a project is delivered on time, within budget, and ensure that everyone associated with that project is kept up to date and informed of any changes or deviations from the original plan.

What is it about your job that inspires you?

I just love to help people, I get such a buzz from knowing something I have changed either a system or process is making someone else’s job easier and also keeping patients safer.

What is positive to you about working In the NHS?

The NHS is such a big organisation and career wise it gives you so many opportunities to move around try new roles and allow you to explore all your potentials.
