Sip Til Send project team celebrates one year of enhanced patient experiences across UHDB

A simple change to how our patients stay hydrated before surgery has helped to transform patient experiences across our hospitals by improving comfort, safety, and clinical outcomes. The project, Sip Til Send, allows patients undergoing a procedure under anaesthetic or sedation to sip up to 170ml of water every hour before they are seen - and has recently celebrated its first year in place at UHDB.

Project embedding medical students with Patient Experience team shortlisted for national award

An innovative project which embeds medical students into the Patient Experience team to help them gain a deeper understanding of a patient's time spent in hospital has been recognised after being shortlisted for a national award. The Paediatric Medical Students Patient Experience and Quality Improvement Special Study Module (SSM), was developed after colleagues at UHDB identified a gap in the curriculum for students around understanding the full patient journey and the experiences of patients who require admission to our hospitals.

We are delighted to announce the rour winners and runners up for Patient Experience Champion of the Year 2022.

Our winner is Amie Beaton, Registered Nurse in the Combined Day Unit, RDH.
