Andrew Hall, Executive Chief Operating Officer, set to take up Nottingham role

We write to share that Andrew Hall, Executive Chief Operating Officer (COO), is set to take up a new role as COO at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) later this year.

Andrew joined UHDB 11 years ago, holding corporate roles in transformation and operations and leading the Trust's diagnostic and surgical services as divisional director for several years. After being appointed as Deputy COO, Andrew became Interim COO in October 2023 before taking up the position permanently in June last year.

Sharing his news, Andrew said: "I have worked for UHDB for a big part of my career, including our merger and through the pandemic. What has always struck me - especially through challenges like those - is the great people who work here, their talent, commitment to patients and to helping each other.  The Trust also has some wonderful facilities, the combination of these with its dedicated workforce is a real strength.

"It has been a pleasure to be part of UHDB for more than a decade, and I look forward to seeing it continue to go from strength to strength as a key provider for local people in Derbyshire and Staffordshire."

Andrew is due to join Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, whose 19,000 staff care for more than a million people in the local community, in the summer.

UHDB Chief Executive Stephen Posey said: "On behalf of UHDB, we wish Andrew every success in his new role. His knowledge and expertise will no doubt continue to serve the NHS at a really important time for the health service, and we thank him for the many years he has given to UHDB."

Andrew formally held senior roles in local government and the voluntary sector as well as the wider NHS, where he has worked in the fields of health inequalities, community services, urgent primary care and integrated health and social care.

The role of the executive chief operating officer is critical to ensuring consistent quality care for patients, and a competitive recruitment process will start at UHDB imminently.
