Blood clinics to restart at Sir Robert Peel from next Tuesday

Phlebotomy clinic

As the impact of Covid-19 on our hospitals begins to ease, we will soon be reopening the outpatients department at Sir Robert Peel Community Hospital on a small scale.

From Tuesday 23 June, the Trust plans to restart the walk-in blood clinics at Sir Robert Peel that have been running from Samuel Johnson Community Hospital since the beginning of April.

The Trust chose to temporarily move phlebotomy clinics to Samuel Johnson during this time, so that the outpatients department at Sir Robert Peel could be used as additional capacity for GPs to treat patients in the community.

It should be noted that these phlebotomy clinics are only for patients who have been requested to have their bloods taken by UHDB clinicians and not by their GP.

From 23 June, the service will be available at Sir Robert Peel’s outpatients department at the below times, which will also be covered by colleagues

  • Tuesdays: 8.30am-12pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm
  • Wednesday: 8.30am-12pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm
  • Thursday: 1.30pm-4pm

The Trust is also planning to introduce an online booking system for patients to book their blood test appointment at Sir Robert Peel and Samuel Johnson in advance, in line with our other hospitals.
