Poppy appeal at UHDB raises £6050
The Royal British Legion (RBL) Riders Branch came to Royal Derby Hospital (RDH) and Queen's Hospital Burton (QHB) in November collecting for this year's Poppy Appeal.
Across the two days they were on site the Riders helped the Trust raise £6050.18 from donations given by the public and our colleagues — smashing all records since the bikers have been coming to the two hospitals across the years.
Chris Upton, Armed Forces Covenant Lead and Rowland Agidee, Chief Analytics Officer, met with Mark Cannell from the RBL Riders who presented certificates for RDH and QHB.
How does the money support our communities?
Money raised during the Poppy Appeal helps support the Armed Forces community in lots of different ways. Through areas such as heating costs, clothing, prescription medication, medical appliances and equipment, essential home repairs and emergency shelter or assistance for Veterans and their families in need. It also supports with housing accommodation and care facilities for Veterans as well as food grants with 100% of all money raised going to the Royal British Legion.
Why do we raise money for the Poppy Appeal?
Since it started in 1921, the Poppy Appeal has always had a dual purpose – to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and to raise money for those who have been left disadvantaged by their time in Service.
