EMBRACE Staff Network and UHDB colleagues taking part in Derby Caribbean Carnival 2024 this weekend
We are delighted that our EMBRACE Staff Network, alongside other Trust colleagues, will be proudly participating in the Derby Caribbean Carnival 2024, with support and funding from the Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity (DBHC). This vibrant and culturally rich event will take place on Sunday 21 July 2024, at Osmaston Park in Derby.
The Derby Caribbean Carnival is a beloved annual event organised by the Derby West Indian Community Association (DWICA). It showcases the rich and diverse Caribbean culture through a lively procession, colourful clothing and outfits, and vibrant music. The event is a staple in Derby’s cultural calendar, and celebrates and promotes Caribbean heritage, while fostering broader community spirit. The procession will be starting at 1pm from Derby City Centre, culminating in Osmaston Park where attendees can enjoy a variety of performances, food stalls, and family-friendly activities.
EMBRACE and Trust colleagues, alongside the DBHC mascot 'Lambie', will be taking part in the procession on the day. In addition, they will also be hosting an information stand where they hope to speak to members of the public and encourage them to join our incredible organisation, which drives forward inclusion and belonging at all levels and aims to be the best place to work - no matter your background.
Our presence at the carnival highlights our commitment to community engagement and our dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace - and we are delighted that our colleagues will be on hand at the event to engage with our communities, offer information about career opportunities, and discuss our initiatives promoting inclusion and diversity.
Visitors to the carnival will be able to identify UHDB colleagues by the branded t-shirts, visors, and more - all of which will be sporting Trust, EMBRACE, and DBHC logos! We are delighted about our colleagues taking part in the carnival, demonstrating our unshakeable commitment to an inclusive culture within our organisation.
We look forward to seeing you at the Derby Caribbean Carnival 2024, celebrating with us and learning more about how UHDB is striving to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all.
