UHDB welcomes Chris Sands as new Executive Chief Financial Officer
We are pleased to share the news that Chris Sands has been appointed as Executive Chief Financial Officer at UHDB.
Chris, who will join UHDB in late October, currently holds a similar role at Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) since joining in 2021, and has nearly 20 years board level experience.
His extensive experience at a senior level within NHS finance spans nearly 30 years, with previous roles at Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust as Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Financial and Strategy Officer for 10 years, and Director of Finance and Compliance at Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Chris graduated in economics, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and an active member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
In recent roles, Chris has been a key contributor to the development of the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB financial recovery plan, working with system partners to deliver transformation to improve outcomes and value for money.
On his appointment, Chris said: "I am pleased to be joining UHDB, which is a great opportunity to contribute to my local acute Trust and the communities it serves, as I was born and now live in Derbyshire, and have worked across Staffordshire for the past three years.
"I am passionate about staff development, and I am a big believer in building improvements around our patients first, which in turn ensures we use our money wisely for our patients and communities."
Stephen Posey, Chief Executive, said: "We are delighted that Chris is to join UHDB, and look forward to welcoming him later this year.
"Chris brings a wealth of board and senior leadership and financial experience, all of which will be a huge benefit to UHDB and our partners across Derbyshire and Staffordshire as we implement our new strategy with a focus on value and sustainability and deliver exceptional care together.
"I also want to share my thanks to Simon Crowther, who has provided immeasurable support and leadership over the past four years."
Simon Crowther, current Executive Chief Financial Officer, will be moving to pastures new in early September, with Claire Finn, current Director of Operational Finance, supporting in the interim.
