Lottie finishes inside top six in PAT Dog of the Year contest

Lottie the PAT dog

Our furry friend Lottie, the Pets As Therapy (PAT) dog, has finished in the top six at the national PAT Dog of the Year competition.

Lottie is a popular figure at UHDB, particularly at RDH where she work as part of the PAT project, which is provided by our Patient Experience Team.

Back in February 2020, her owner Paul Warner dicsovered that he and Lottie had been shortlisted for the national award and appealed for votes from #TeamUHDB and the public in a bid to become top dog.

Unfortunately, Lottie didn't claim first place, but she did everyone proud by finishing inside the top six out of more than 600 contestants in the awards ceremony which was held virtually last week.

When speaking to us back in February, Paul, who also suffers from Parkinson’s, said:

“It’s not only the patients who benefit from Lottie’s visits, I myself get a lot out of the visits as well, I enjoy doing it and it is good therapy for me as well because of my condition.”

Well done to you both - you'll always be paw-some in our eyes!
