For the next few weeks, a variety of members of #TeamUHDB working on the frontline of healthcare will be delivering a series of messages and advice on which services can help you this winter. They will also be telling you about you can help us by being prepared for winter.

The teams at our minor injuries units at Sir Robert Peel Community Hospital in Tamworth and Samuel Johnson Community Hospital in Lichfield have shared advice about how they can help you this winter without the need for you to visit A&E.

Lyndsay Nicholls, Senior Emergency Nurse Practitioner at Sir Robert Peel, said: “If you have a broken bone, have suffered a strain, sprain or minor burn, as well as any other minor injury or illness, you can visit one of our Minor Injuries Units.

“You can be seen for these types of conditions quicker and easier at our units than at other NHS services in the area. You don’t need an appointment and millions of families make use of these units every year.”

Sharon Smart, Senior Sister in Minor Injuries at Samuel Johnson Community Hospital, added: “Please be assured that we have lots of extra measures in place to help keep you and your family safe when you visit our hospitals.

“You can also contact your GP or call NHS 111 for advice for non-life threatening health concerns.

“Our hospitals are going to be busy this winter. Help Us Help You.”
