#TeamUHDB marks National Careers Week 2024
UHDB is proud to join a range of organisations and NHS colleagues across the country in observing this year's National Careers Week (NCW), taking place from 4-9 March 2024.
NCW is a celebration of careers guidance and inspirational employment journeys across the UK, empowering individuals to explore diverse career pathways - and for us here at UHDB, this is an opportunity to affirm our commitment to nurturing talent from far and wide to cultivate a workforce that embodies excellence, compassion and openness.
As one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, we recognise the pivotal role played by every single individual within our organisation in delivering exceptional patient care - whether they are a frontline clinician, an Estates and Facilities colleague, administrative and clerical assistant, or healthcare scientist. Both UHDB and the wider NHS offer a diverse array of career pathways tailored to individuals with varying interests, skills, and aspirations.
As well as enhancing the skill sets of those already with us in order to ensure continuous professional development across the organisation, our People Services team are dedicated to building the next generation of healthcare professionals, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to thrive in their chosen fields.
To this effect, they will be hosting their next annual Future Workforce Careers Event next month on Tuesday 30 April 2024, from 4.30-7.30pm, at Queen's Hospital Burton. This event will allow those in attendance to speak directly with a range of healthcare professionals and local training providers about a career both at UHDB and the NHS more broadly.
National Careers Week also provides an opportunity for us to share individual career progression stories, celebrating the unique perspectives and experiences that each individual brings to the table within our workforce - and we will soon be publishing some of these stories from our own #TeamUHDB family to mark the occasion.
In addition, individuals and organisations marking National Careers Week have been encouraged to make 'pledges' on how they will seek to develop themselves and those around them. Several of our colleagues have taken part, which you can view in a series of images below - whether that's a commitment to 'lifelong learning', or to use their 'passion and knowledge to support and develop junior colleagues' their speciality.
If you're thinking of becoming part of the UHDB family and supporting the delivery of exceptional care together, you can head over to our website to find out all the different routes into joining our dedicated workforce - no matter what you specialise in.
