Temporary changes to how you access Entrance 9, A&E and the Children's Emergency Department at Royal Derby Hospital

We are conducting some essential construction work at Royal Derby Hospital and have restricted some vehicle access to the road that leads to A&E and the Children's Emergency Department which will be in place until the winter period.

The road is fully accessible to emergency vehicles and visitors can access the road in an emergency to drop off patients, or to provide closer access to people who require it.

Vehicles can only use the road to drop off a patient and vehicles must then leave to keep the area clear for emergency ambulances.

  • Ambulance access is not impacted
  • Pedestrian access to A&E - Go through the hospital main entrance and follow the red signs. If you walk to A&E outside, please follow the pedestrian diversions.
  • Dropping someone off at A&E and Entrance 9 - There are no drop off bays or parking spaces, however, in an emergency you are able to drive to A&E and the Children's Emergency Department to drop off only
  • Disabled access - You can use the road to be dropped off. The disabled car parks are located in Car Park 2 and 3, with a clear signposted route which involves taking the lift to level 2, and following the signs to A&E.

We appreciate your patience as we safely manage the high volume of construction vehicles on site.
