UHDB introduces exciting new training tool to enhance CPR training across all sites

A new state-of-the-art training tool has been rolled out across all UHDB sites, aimed at ensuring all our staff are equipped with the highest standard of life-saving CPR skills - enhancing patient care both within our hospitals and in the wider community.

The Brayden manikin is a highly sophisticated device developed by INNOSONIAN, a medical equipment supplier committed to improving out-of-hospital outcomes, particularly for cardiac arrest.

The Brayden is what's known as a 'half-body manikin', which is paired with training software accessible through an iPad, which provides real-time feedback on the quality of CPR being performed - including critical metrics such as the depth and speed of chest compressions. This immediate feedback is invaluable in ensuring that staff are performing CPR to the highest standards. providing a comprehensive and interactive training experience for our staff.

You may have seen recently that we shared a short video of the Brayden manikin on our social media channels, for example on Facebook or Instagram, which you can view below.

This 'mobile' training tool allows the manikin to be rotated across all five of our hospital sites, ensuring best practice for every member of staff, no matter where they are based - ensuring that relevant staff can access high-quality CPR training right on their doorstep, directly enhancing patient care both within and outside the hospital setting.

Some of our colleagues at our community  sites may find it challenging to travel to our acute sites, such as Royal Derby Hospital or Queen's Hospital Burton - which is why we are particularly excited to have the Brayden manikin rotate across our sites on a regular basis, which will help us to  ensure all Trust staff receive the same, high quality training regardless of where they are usually based.

Introducing the Brayden manikin underscores our dedication to adopting innovative solutions that advance clinical skills and improve patient outcomes by equipping our staff with the best tools and training, we ensure that they are always prepared to deliver the highest standard of care in any emergency situation.

This initiative highlights our forward-looking approach to healthcare, prioritising continuous improvement and excellence in patient care. The Brayden manikin is more than just a training tool - it is a testament to our commitment to leveraging technology and innovation to enhance the skills of our healthcare professionals and, ultimately, the health and wellbeing of our patients.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact this advanced training device will have across all UHDB sites and our communities, as we continue to strive for excellence in all aspects of patient care.
