UHDB welcomes CQC report

Care Quality Commission

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton has today (Wednesday 16 June 2021) welcomed a Care Quality Commission report into infection control measures at our hospitals.

The report details that there are areas of good and outstanding practice were noted and that Trust had a clear vision and strategy for continuously improving practices related to infection prevention and that our staff understood their role in preventing infections. The report also highlights that our staff felt respected, supported and valued and there is an open culture where they can focus on the needs of patients receiving care.

Cathy Winfield, Executive Chief Nurse and Director of Infection Prevention, said: “I’m really pleased with the report from the Care Quality Commission and it reflects the huge amount of work our staff have done over the past 15 months to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Our staff can be rightly proud of the work they have done to keep patients as safe as was possible during this time and this is evidenced in the CQC report. The report does of course highlight a small number of areas where we can improve and these are currently being implemented in full.
