Mwansa Mulenga, Governor

Mwansa Mulenga, GovernorI am a dedicated and passionate member of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.

Working as a Senior Nurse and across three of our sites in the past years, I have had the privilege to meet people and represent their views and interests in different ways.

I am a Professional Nurse Advocate and use this role to provide support to colleagues. Understanding the importance of wellbeing is vital, due to the daily pressures nurses and other health workers face in the workplace.

I have been a staff network lead who has worked with Network sponsors to advocate the needs of colleagues and promote a positive and inclusive work environment. It is an honour to work as a staff Governor and continue to create opportunities for professional development and recognise of the diverse talents and contributions of the wider workforce.

I am a big advocate of intersectionality amongst those with protected characteristics, and I believe that we can all work together to make a difference in the lives of both colleagues and patients.

As a Patient Experience Champion working closely with patients, their needs are important to me, and I will continue working within our communities to amplify their voices.

My experiences as an internationally educated nurse will bring value to the role.

Outside work, I belong to a diaspora nursing association where I volunteer to provide pastoral support to our nurses new to the country among other responsibilities, working collaboratively with other International Nurse and Midwifery Association within the country.
