Celebrate International Clinical Trials Day with us on 20 May and #BePartOfResearch
On 20 May, the research team are celebrating International Clinical Trials Day, which commemorates what is thought to be the first clinical trial by James Lind in 1747.
On the day, the team will be hosting research stands at both Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Hospital Burton. It is an opportunity for patients, visitors, staff and anyone who is interested in clinical research to ask the team questions, including the types of research we do here at the Trust and how you can get involved.
Why is clinical research important?
It is well known that patients who receive care in research-active hospitals have better health outcomes than patients who are treated in non-research active environments. We carry out clinical research in most of the clinical specialities across the Trust, including: renal (kidneys), diabetes, cancer, children's, emergency medicine, fertility, ophthalmology and Parkinson's disease.

Get involved in research
On the day, you can ask our staff how you - or someone you know - can get involved in research, and perhaps get access to new, cutting edge treatment only available in clinical research.
Clinical research involvement means you are contributing to the future of medicine for generations to come.
