Simon Gibson, Governor
I have worked at UHDB for 25 years starting as a newly qualified nurse and progressing to the position of Charge Nurse, before making the decision to move into education.
As a senior clinical educator in the Learning and Education team I feel that I bring a unique perspective and skillset to the role of Staff Governor, representing my nursing and midwifery colleagues.
My experience working with colleagues across UHDB equips me with invaluable insights into the day-to-day operations and challenges faced within the organisation.
My role as an educator demonstrates my commitment to professional development and lifelong learning, qualities that are highly desirable in a Governor tasked with shaping the future direction of the Trust. My position involves collaboration with various stakeholders, and external partners and this experience has honed my teamwork and interpersonal skills, making me adept at building consensus and fostering positive working relationships — an essential aspect of effective governance.
My dedication to upholding the values of the organisation, compassion, openness and excellence means that I will continue to bring these to the role of Staff Governor, serving as a voice for my colleagues.
I am commitment to fairness, inclusion and diversity ensuring that decisions made at the governance level prioritise the well-being and success of all stakeholders.
My background as a clinical educator positions me as a highly qualified candidate for the role of staff Governor, capable of making meaningful contributions to the governance of the Trust, representing the interests of all staff.
