Tom Kennedy, Governor
I have worked for the Trust for 20 years and progressed from a Band 2 role to Band 7 over the years. My time here has helped me gain insight into the many different perspectives held by staff across the organisation.
The last ten years of my career have been focussed on improvement, and some people might recognise me from the various projects and initiatives I have had the opportunity to work on. If you know me, you will know I am happy to speak up about what's important, no matter who is listening.
For years, I've said the same thing about what I believe people need in order to be happy at work. We need to know clearly what we must do, to be given all the resources we need to do it, and to know when we have done it well. I want to be a staff governor to ensure this for all of us as a minimum.
My drive and motivation come from where I started. As an unqualified Band 2 colleague, I was often frustrated that things did not work the way I thought they could. Fortunately for me, I have had the opportunity to work with great people who have taught me how I could change that. I will always strive to be like them, and help people improve things, for our patients and for ourselves.
I am a staff governor to help make things better.
