Four UHDB apprentices shortlisted for 2024 Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Apprenticeship Awards
We are proud to share the news that four UHDB apprentices have been shortlisted for the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Apprenticeship Awards 2024. These awards, sponsored by the University of Derby, celebrate the region's most talented apprentices, with winners set to be revealed on Thursday 3 October 2024 at The Village Hotel in Nottingham.
Apprenticeships at UHDB form a vital part of our organisation - not only benefit the individuals themselves, giving them the opportunity to develop valuable skills and qualifications while gaining real-world experience, but also greatly enhancing the Trust’s ability to deliver exceptional care to our communities both in the short and long term.
Apprenticeships create a pipeline of skilled, dedicated staff who are aligned with the Trust’s values, ensuring the delivery of high quality care. By investing in the development of apprentices, UHDB continues to foster a workforce that is passionate about providing outstanding healthcare - truly embodying our values and vision to ensure the delivery of Exceptional Care Together.
Among the nominees is Waru Modi, a Healthcare Support Worker on Ward 304, who joined UHDB in 2022 after extensive community work in Africa and Derby. His passion for healthcare began after receiving compassionate care during a personal injury. Known for promoting multiculturalism and making a positive impact on patients, Waru is shortlisted for both Intermediate Apprentice of the Year and Multicultural Intermediate Apprentice of the Year.
Naomi Kinlock, a Clerical Officer in the Apprenticeships and Vocational Development Team, has also been recognised. Since joining UHDB in 2021 after a previous apprenticeship with Rolls Royce, Naomi has played a key role in recruitment projects and is admired for her work ethic and attention to detail. She has been shortlisted for Intermediate Apprentice of the Year.
Harriet Sowter, a Registered Nursing Associate in the Medical Assessment Unit, began her apprenticeship journey at UHDB and completed her foundation degree with a Merit. Her professionalism and dedication have earned her a place on the shortlist for both Higher Apprentice of the Year and Health and Public Service Apprentice of the Year.
Finally, Adam Allton, a Registered Nurse on Ward 401, has completed three apprenticeships with UHDB, culminating in his nursing degree earlier this year. His determination and success have earned him nominations for Degree Apprentice of the Year and Health and Public Service Apprentice of the Year.
We are incredibly proud of Waru, Naomi, Harriet, and Adam for their outstanding achievements and the dedication they’ve shown in their apprenticeships - embodying the values and commitment we strive for at UHDB.
Please join us in congratulating them on their well-deserved nominations and wishing them the best of luck at the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Apprenticeship Awards 2024!
