One Voice group
One Voice is an open support group for ladies that have been diagnosed with any gynaecological cancer.
Our aim is to provide a safe and relaxing environment for people to share their journey and offer tips and support to others, whilst forming friendships and support networks.
Why should I join?
- Share experiences with others who have had similar challenges and worries, who will become supporters and friends.
- Participate in planned activities. During the past few years these have included going to lunch, workshops, cosmetic demonstrations, a ‘Ladies Day’, and attending conferences.
- Become better informed. Specialist speakers give presentations – hypnotherapy, complementary and alternative therapy, pathology, the genetic link to cancer, clinical trials.
- Specialist nurses attend meetings and give valuable support and information.
- Get out and socialise!
Unfortunately, since March 2020 our UHDB One Voice support group has not been able to meet in person due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In response to this, a virtual support group using Microsoft Teams has been set up.
The virtual support group is held on the second Friday of each month 2pm – 3pm and is supported by the Gynaecology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialists along with group volunteers.
Members are welcome to join the group at any stage from diagnosis, during or after treatment to living life with and beyond cancer. We hope to keep these meetings informal but will try to arrange external speakers if requested by members of the group.
If you are interested in joining or would like more information, please email: uhdb.gynaeoncologycns@nhs.net.
*Note - you will need to create your own Microsoft teams account, and if using your mobile, you will need to download the Microsoft teams app.
