Allied Health Professionals talking

Dietitians are qualified and regulated health professionals that assess, diagnose, and treat dietary and nutritional problems at an individual and wider public-health level.

They use the most up-to-date public health and scientific research on food, health, and disease, which they translate into practical guidance to enable people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices.

There are over 50 dietitians working across many areas of our hospitals, supported by nutritionists, assistant practitioners, dietetic assistants and an excellent admin team.

Training

We actively promote the preceptorship programme for newly qualified dietitians, and are supporting assistants to access the apprenticeship programmes to help further their careers.

We actively participate in student training and support local initiatives to drive the importance of dietetics as a profession.

Services

Our Paediatric Diabetes team is one of the largest teams in the UK, achieving excellent outcomes, thanks to expert specialist care from staff.

We treat a multitude of patients across all five hospital sites, covering all age groups. We have specialist teams covering inpatient and outpatient care to the Renal service, Oncology service, the Children's Hospital, Gastroenterology wards and critical care.

We also provide an outpatient service to patients with Parkinson's, diabetes, and those that receive care from the Bariatric service.

The service is vast, but we are a cohesive team that work together to achieve departmental objectives.
