New Deputy Medical Director for Digital and Data, and Chief Clinical Information Officer at UHDB
University Hospitals of Derby and Burton are pleased to share that Dr Nitin Kolhe, Consultant Nephrologist at UHDB and Deputy Divisional Medical Director for Medicine, has been appointed Deputy Medical Director for Digital and Data, and Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO), which will start on 1 September 2023.
Nitin brings a wealth of experience at a regional and national level, including Chair of Midlands Kidney Network, National Clinical Advisor for Acute Kidney Injury for NHS England and member of NHS England's Clinical Reference Group for renal medicine.
Digital Service are currently undertaking a significant transformation journey, including procuring a new electronic patient record (EPR) system and implementing a number of digital solutions to support clinical colleagues across the Trust, such as Imprivata OneSign, allowing colleagues to log on to all clinical systems with a smartcard.
Nitin said: "I am passionate about ensuring patients receive the best possible care through innovative technology. I will advocate for user-centered solutions, emphasise usability and accessibility to improve the overall clinical and patient experience.
"I look forward to collaborating with both digital and clinical colleagues as we embark on this digital journey. I believe that with my medical background and first-hand experience as a healthcare practitioner, I can bridge the gap between clinical workflows and technology solutions. This understanding allows me to implement systems that align with the needs and preferences of medical professionals, which ultimately improves patient outcomes."
