UHDB and UK Sepsis Trust offering support to sepsis patients through joint support group
UHDB, in collaboration with the UK Sepsis Trust, is hosting a series of informal group meetings to offer support to patients and their families who have previously been treated for sepsis.
The Sepsis Support Group will be meeting bi-monthly throughout 2023 to offer support, guidance and tips for those who have previously been treated for sepsis. Attendees are also welcome to bring a friend or relative along for support if needed.
Duncan Cameron, General Manager at UHDB, said: “Recovering from sepsis is often varied and has many contributing factors, and these can include physical, cognitive and psychological barriers. The Sepsis Support Group is a really great way to share your experiences with people who have faced similar situations in their recovery.
"It has been fantastic to see the benefits attendees have seen from previous group meetings, and the reassurance and realisation that attendees get from speaking to each other and seeing the symptoms are common and normal.
"The group is really friendly and welcoming, and aims to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible. Everyone is able to share practical tips, motivating each other and offering a real sense of support."
The group meets every second month starting in January 2023 at the Nottingham Road Community Fire Station on Nottingham Road, Chaddesden, DE21 6FP, from 7.30pm - 9pm. Refreshments will also be available, as well as information from the UK Sepsis Trust.
