UHDB announces appointment of Executive Medical Director
University Hospitals of Derby and Burton is pleased to announce the appointment of a new substantive Executive Medical Director.
Dr James Crampton, who was appointed as the Trust’s Interim Executive Medical Director in February 2022, will now take on the role on a permanent basis with immediate effect following a competitive recruitment process.
Dr Crampton joined Burton Hospitals in 2010 as a Consultant in the Emergency Department, and has gone on to hold several senior positions at the at both Burton Hospitals and University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, including Divisional Medical Director for Medicine, Medical Director for Quality and Safety and Deputy Medical Director.
Stephen Posey, Chief Executive, said: “James is a familiar face to many colleagues across the Trust and I am delighted that he will become a permanent member of our Board. During the last 13 years, working firstly at Queen’s Hospital Burton and more recently at our other hospitals following the creation of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton in 2018, James has firmly established himself as a respected, compassionate and trusted leader.
“James has a wealth of experience, both from a clinical and strategic perspective, and draws on all of this to lead by example pushing the Trust forward as we continue to strive to achieve Exceptional Care Together. It is a reflection of the impact that James has had in this interim period that he now steps into the role on a permanent basis, and I have no doubt that James will continue with the excellent work that he has already put in place.”
