Ophthalmology (eyes)
The ophthalmology service cares for patients with eye conditions or injuries to the eye.
We assess, treat and carry out surgical procedures at three of our hospitals (Royal Derby Hospital, Queen's Hospital Burton, and Samuel Johnson Community Hospital).
Outpatient clinics
We run general outpatient clinics for patients with
- eye problems related to diabetes
- glaucoma
- medical retina
- anterior segment
- oculoplastic disorders
Eye surgery
Eye surgery is performed at Queen's Hospital Burton and Royal Derby Hospital using modern methods and equipment. Patients are usually allowed to go home the same day as their surgery (day case patients).
Surgeries include:
- cataract surgery
- laser therapy
- glaucoma surgery
- intravitreal injections
- oculoplastics
- vitreoretinal surgery
