Endoscopy at Royal Derby Hospital
An endoscopy is a procedure where the inside of your body is examined internally using an endoscope.
An endoscope is a thin, long, flexible tube that contains a light source and a video camera, so that images of the inside of your body can be relayed to a monitor.
The unit operates:
- Monday to Friday, 8am - 7pm
- Saturday, 8am – 6pm
- Sunday, 12pm – 6pm (inpatients only)
Endoscopy staff provide a 24/7 on call service which is performed in main theatres out of hours for the gastroenterologists.
