Children's Orthoptics
The children's orthoptics service is provided by the ophthalmology departments at Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Hospital Burton.
Orthoptists assess and diagnose disorders of vision, binocular vision (how the eyes work together as a pair) and ocular motility (eye movements). We offer treatment and management of those conditions where appropriate.
We care for children in an outpatient setting and take referrals from consultant ophthalmologists and paediatricians, GPs, health visitors and optometrists.
The service is provided by qualified orthoptists supported by visual field technicians and administative staff. We have our own rooms with suitable child-friendly equipment.
All our orthoptists are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
